If you're looking for safe, Zip is safe. He hasnt raced in almost 2. Spent some time as a pony horse before moving on to life off the track. Neck reins, works off leg, has a great stop, pivots, backs and he LISTENS to your seat. Hasnt had a ton of "arena work" per say but has had plenty of experience undersaddle. Anyone famikiar with riding can ride him. No vices, no behavioral issues. Wore a bit at one point obviously bc he was a racehorse but has a VERY light mouth and prefers to go bit less. Very content this way, easy to ride, and plenty of control.
He isn't a "wow" factor mover, but he is safe and will give you the same ride every time. Has only been under Western tack since retiring. Easy keeper as far as weight goes but MUST WEAR SHOES.
Take him on trails, gymkahana, lessons, 4-h, and the list goes on. He seems to really enjoy kids and I feel more than okay with my 3 year old around him.
